Mia Bella Chavez is an interdisciplinary artist exploring the intersection of activism and artistry in her native city Los Angeles. In all mediums her work shares one throughline: storytelling with truth at its forefront. Before the age of 18, the young artist had already shown work at Moca Grand and The Getty, in addition to other local galleries. She is trained in Photography by the Los Angeles Non-profit circuit (Las Fotos project, Echo Park Film Center, Inner-city arts, and Barnsdall Art park) with supplemental education from CalArts and Loyola Marymount University. This knowledge has led her to the world of image production, fulfilling roles such as photography, gaffer, and production manager for companies such as Nike, RollingStone, Fear of God, Footlocker, and Skims. Most days, you will find her working in her art studio creating art objects out of materials most would regard as trash, ranging but not limited to: sandwich bag lamps, bottle cap carrying cases, aluminum can palm trees, and a milk jug resin collage. She hopes to use these materials to convince the world around her to do their part.
