About us

GRACIA is a Guatemalan-owned, women-run and artist-run project rooted in Antigua Guatemala. Since 2019, we have been creating spaces for artists, makers, and creatives from around the world to come together through shared practice, learning, and exchange.

Our work lives at the intersection of art, place, and cultural dialogue. Through residencies, workshops, and small group programs, we invite participants into a slower and more intentional way of engaging with both their creative practice and the context that surrounds them.

At the center of GRACIA is La Casita, our house of creation. It is both a home and a working space where artists live, develop their projects, and connect with others over a period of time.

  • GRACIA programs are rooted in ethical and reciprocal cultural exchange.

    We work closely with artisans, teachers, and collaborators across Guatemala, many of whom carry forward practices that have been developed over generations. Program fees help ensure that their knowledge and time are fairly compensated, while also supporting the infrastructure that makes these experiences possible.

    Our intention is to create programs that are not only enriching for visiting artists, but also respectful and supportive of the local creative communities we collaborate with.

  • We offer:

    • Artist residencies in Antigua Guatemala
    • Workshops in natural dyes, textiles, and creative practices
    • Cultural programs and collaborations with local artisans
    • Small group trips centered around place-based learning

    Each program is designed to allow for both independent exploration and shared experience.

    Residents and participants are encouraged to develop their own rhythm, while also engaging with the people, materials, and traditions that shape the local context.

    • creative exchange happens in ways that are meaningful and sustainable

    We see our work as part of a larger effort to strengthen the creative economy in Guatemala, while creating opportunities for connection across cultures.
