Hannah Longbottom Estrada is a painter and printmaker, originally from Los Angeles County. She studied Fine Arts and Emergency Health Services at the George Washington University, and created an 8-piece undergraduate studio art thesis focused on the colonization of Central America. Her recent work in conservation with the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian and her Guatemalan heritage inspires her current passion for Maya textile work. She hopes to study regional textile patterns and palettes, and better understand traditional back-strap and pikb’il weaving techniques.
